Applications

GP-49 is an intermediate silane useful for blocking hydroxyl and amino groups in organic synthesis reactions. This silylating step allows subsequent reactions to be carried out which would be adversely affected by the presence of active hydrogen in the hydroxyl or amine groups. Following the reaction step, hydroxyl or amine groups blocked with GP-49 may be recovered by a hydrolysis procedure. GP-49 is also used for preparing hydrophobic and release materials as well as enhancing flow of powders.

Processing and Safety Guidelines

GP-49 should be handled with care. Use proper precautions for handling flammable materials. Consult Safety Data Sheet for additional details.

Packaging/Handling/Storage

GP-49 is supplied in 5-gallon (35 lbs.) pails and 55-gallon (380 lbs.) drums. GP-49 is flammable. Keep away from open flames or welding torches, even when empty. Moisture Sensitive -- maintain under nitrogen
