Applications

GP-236 may be used as a reactive intermediate in the synthesis of silicone copolymers or as a crosslinking agent in neutral cure silicone rubber. Both reactions involve the Hydrosilation of Allyl terminated hydrocarbons using transition metal catalysts. GP-236 is also suggested as a water repellent treatment for textile materials and may be applied from solvent systems or emulsified prior to application.

Processing and Safety Guidelines

Avoid contact with acidic, basic and oxidizing materials. Contact with these materials can cause the liberation of large amounts of flammable (hydrogen) gas. Approximately 350 mls. of hydrogen may be liberated by each gram of GP-236, when contacted with acidic or basic components. Store GP-236 only in vented containers, even when diluted with solvents or after emulsification. Do not reuse containers unless drained and flushed with clean neutral solvent.

Packaging/Handling/Storage

GP-236 is supplied in 5-gallon (40 lbs.) pails, 55-gallon (440 lbs.) drums and 330-gallon (2640 lbs.) totes. Store below 90° F.
